When the teacher Eduardo Parrilla told us that most of the major global brands shoot its cars in Spain. We decided that if we were going to do a workshop of these characteristics, it had to be with someone who has much experience. That’s how Juanmi Azpiroz, who has been lighting car commercials and cinema for 15 years, came to the International Masters in Digital Cinematography.
In this workshop we have lightened cars indoors, outdoors, we have tried different schemes highlighting volumes and colours of different models, with specialized techniques.
About Juanmi Azpiroz:
There are rumours that he has been thinking about cinema since he was 13 years and watched Blade Runner. Gregg Toland and James Wong Hows have always been his references, among the classics Roger Deakins, from more contemporary cinematographers Janusz Kaminski or Harris Savides.
He started as camera runner in a film of Imanol Uribe called “La luna negra”, there he met Javier Aguirresarobe and decided to throw it all up to become Cinematographer. He has been responsible for the direction of photography of some films since 1990, one of the best known is "Alacrán enamorado".
He likes advertising because “it lets me be much more daring endeavour and experimental than most of the films”. Moreover, you shoot every week, which keeps you active.
